Description

Bloodthirsty man-eater, frequently appearing in Conan stories as an adversary (for example in Hour of the Dragon and Iron Shadows in the Moon) The creature has been portrayed as a bipedal ape, extremely strong and dangerous.

Similar concepts of bipedal ape-men, although much less bloodthirsty appear as cryptids all around the world.

"In general outline it was not unlike a man. But its face, limned in the bright moonlight, was bestial, with close-set ears, flaring nostrils, and a great flabby-lipped mouth in which gleamed white tusk-like fangs. It was covered with shaggy grayish hair, shot with silver which shone in the moonlight, and its great misshapen paws hung nearly to the earth. Its bulk was tremendous; as it stood on its short bowed legs, its bullet-head rose above that of the man who faced it; the sweep of the hairy breast and giant shoulders was breathtaking; the huge arms were like knotted trees."

Robert E. Howard, Iron Shadows in the Moon

By stairs where floral serpents crept, and gradients lined with tossing, clashing aloes, he climbed slowly on. Rarely could he see the labyrinthine reaches below, or the levels toward which he was tending. Somewhere on the blind path, he met one of the ape-like animals of Maal Dweb: a dark, savage creature, sleek and glistening like a wet otter, as if it had bathed in one of the hidden pools. It passed him with a hoarse growl, recoiling as the others had done from his repulsively smeared body . . . But nowhere could he find the maiden Athle' or the warrior Mocair, who had preceded him into the maze

Between the crowding heads of the flowers he saw that his legs had undergone a mysterious and horrifying change; their natural hairiness had thickened, had assumed a dark and shaggy pile like the fur of apes; the shanks themselves had somehow shortened; and the feet had grown longer, with uncouth finger-like toes such as were possessed by the animals of Maal Dweb!

In a frenzy of nameless alarm and fear, he drew his broken-tipped knife and began to slash at the flowers. It was as if he had struck at monstrous bells of ringing iron, had assailed the armored heads of dragons. The blade snapped at the hilt. Then the blossoms, lifting hideously, were leaning about his waist, were laving his hips and thighs in their thin, evil slaver.
(...)
Now the leaning blossoms had lifted about his shoulders, were laving his arms, his body. Beneath their abhorrent alchemy the transformation continued. A long fur sprang up on the thickening torso; the arms lengthened; they became simian; the hands took on a likeness to the feet. From the neck downward, Tiglari differed in no wise from the apes of the garden.

One of the races that willingly served the splugorth in rifts RPG (as opposed to being enslaved) were the kittani, they were a race of chimpanzee-like humanoids with extremely advanced technology but little to no talent in magic and functioned as both soldiers and military R&D for the splugorth empire. Among their many technological accomplishments included but are not limited to high-tech power armors far more advanced than anything humans can make, plasma blades inspired by magical fire swords, giant mechanical beetles used as exploratory vehicles, up to 5 mile long starships, 150 meter long 4 headed robot dragons, hovercycles that transform into power armor, starfighters that also transform into giant robots, centaur power armors that can separate into a humanoid power armor and a robot horse when needed and multiple planet destroying weapons.
